The Poet's Wife has been shortlisted for the prestigious
East Midlands Book Award. The judges for this year’s award are the poet and broadcaster Ian McMillan, Jaci Brumwell (Head of Libraries and Heritage, Derbyshire County Council) and John Holmes (BBC). The winning writer will be announced at Lowdham Book Festival on Monday 20th June 2011 and will receive a cheque for £1000. The shortlist will be promoted via bookshops, libraries, book groups and events.
The Poet's Wife is available in paperback and is being promoted in Waterstones 3 for 2s.
It has been favourably reviewed by The Times, Daily Mail and Times Literary Supplement.

Commonwealth Short Story Awards. Judith's story, Hiding in the Cracks, has won a 'highly commended' award in the 2009 Commonwealth Short Story Competition which received over 4000 entries from writers throughout the Commonwealth. A CD of all the winning entries 'Voices from Our World' will be distributed to all Commonwealth broadcasters and is available to buy from the
Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.
A Mile of River is now out in paperback and was picked as one of the 'Best of 2009' on Lovereading website where it was described by Sarah Broadhurst as 'Most Impressive'.

Judith joined Simon Mayo's book panel on Radio Five Live on 24th April to discuss A Mile of River which had been chosen as Book of the Month. The reviewers were: Boyd Hilton, Joel Morris and Helen Dunning and the listener reviewer was Giovanna Dunmall. The novel met with universal approval and the writing was described as sensitive, assured, intoxicating and poetic. Will Self, whose new novel ' The Butt' was being reviewed also commented favourably on the book, particularly its evocation of a rural setting.

Judith’s short story, The Sand Monster, was recently featured on BBC Radio 4’s One to Watch – a showcase of talented, up-and-coming writers.
Judith’s story The Sand Monster has also been chosen by judge Tracy Chevalier as one of the top thirteen stories for the Bridport Prize.
The story featured in the Bridport Prize Anthology 2007.

Events
'Writing Futures', a Northamptonshire Libraries project will be launched over the weekend of 5th/6th March to tie in with World Book Night. Judith, together with Ben Elijah, will be facilitating the project in which a group of writers will attempt to write a digital book in 48 hours.

At the Winchester Writers’ Conference, to be held at the University of Winchester over the weekend of 1-3rd July, Judith will be tutoring and providing one-to-one appointments with delegates in support of their writing. Judith will be teaching a five-day residential course on the novel alongside Barbara Large MBE, Director of the Winchester Writers' Conference.
